Susie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 and underwent an inital round of chemo. In 2004, we found that the cancer had spread to her liver. We kept that mostly in control for 2 more years, but then we found that some brain tumors had deveoped.
We radiated the entire brain first, but when the spots continued to grow, we tried the "cyberknife" which was supposed to be 95% effective. This round seemed to go ok, but unfortunately, we found a new spot soon after. We treated that, but after 3 months, we found that we were not successful.
At this point we are out of treatment options. Surgery is not possible due to the locations of the tumors and more cyberknife treatments would likely leave her brain swiss cheese and likely blind. We have stopped chemotherapy and do not have anything left to do but attempt to treat the symptoms.
Currently we are suffering from brain tumors in 2 areas. One in the short-term memory area and the other is in the cerebellum which controls balance. As the tumors continue to grow, they are swelling and causing severe headaches.
